Why She Stays
‘Why She Stays’ is a short visual film narrative depicting the relationship between Sadie and her partner Jason. It explores her sense of conflict as she navigates their highs and lows, and ultimately makes a surprising choice. When faced with the opportunity for freedom, she elects to stay.

This piece of work will fall into the bracket of social realism, carrying depictions of real-life predicament, whilst set against the backdrop of a suburban Glasgow. This film explores the thoughts of our main character Sadie, as she debates trying to escape her partner, but somehow can’t. We are confronted with a stark, bleak atmosphere and sense of foreboding as we see Sadie choose her fate. The film is suited to a wide audience however will resonate particularly with survivors of abuse and their supporters.

As her pen moves across the page, Amy pours out the reasons behind her choice. A Bittersweet Goodbye, is an intimate, emotionally raw portrait of a mother’s love expressed not through holding on, but through letting go.
