My Story

I am a recent graduate from the University of the West of Scotland with a BA in Performance. With a passion for the performing arts from a young age I have pursued my dreams of becoming an actor with my hard work and persistence. My journey into acting began when I attended classes at Inter Performing Arts Academy, formally know as 'UK Theatre School' and performed in productions such as Jack and the Beanstalk, Christmas extraravaganza and Hairspray as a background singer and dancer. However, I wanted to be more ‘hands-on’ with acting and to step aside from the dancing/singing element of performance, so I joined an acting for screen summer class at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Here, I developed my screen acting skills and learned the invaluable principle that "less is more" when performing for film—a lesson that has stayed with me throughout my career. The course also gave me hands-on experience working as an actor on a professionally supported shoot, preparing me for real-world set environments.

In 2019, i joined the University of the West of Scotland, to pursue a degree in performance. Here, i learnt various acting skills/techniques, allowing me to connect with characters on an emotional level. What's more, I gained a deeper appreciation for the history of the arts, which further enriched and fuelled my passion for the field. In the last year of my degree, i worked with industry professional Drew Taylor-Wilson who is a theatre director, playwright and theatre artist development specialist. Wilson helped guid my final degree performance called 'Inside Flat Number 10', where my group addressed societal issues such as, the cost of living crisis and LGBTQ+ representation.

I've always had a deep passion for stories, and this truly came to fruition in the final year of my degree—whether I was embodying a character on screen or shaping the narrative from behind the scenes. So, just after graduating, i threw myself into a film and television course to learn story making from behind the camera.

I began my film course with a clear focus: I wanted to direct. I was drawn to storytelling, performance, and the creative control that comes with shaping a vision on screen. Although, I mainly wanted to make change in the industry.

My journey in film began by getting stuck into small student productions, where I had the opportunity to take on a variety of roles including sound recordist, costume assistant, and first assistant director. Working across these different departments gave me more than just practical skills—it offered me a broader understanding of how production really works. From managing time on set to supporting the creative vision through costume or sound, each experience has shaped how I approach filmmaking today: with flexibility, curiosity, and a genuine respect for every part of the process.

I got into film not just to tell stories, but to challenge the ones we’ve been told for far too long—especially when it comes to how women are portrayed on screen. Too often, female characters are reduced to one-dimensional roles or placed in narratives that fail to reflect the depth and complexity of their real-life experiences. My goal is to change that.

This isn’t just a creative pursuit—it’s a personal mission. I believe storytelling has the power to shift culture, challenge the status quo, and spark real change. That’s why I’m in the early stages of launching a production studio dedicated to supporting women-led narratives—both in front of and behind the camera. So far, I’ve directed two short films that delve into women’s issues, and I’m committed to creating space for stories that are too often overlooked or unheard.
